cashe size and storage space question

I am new to building pcs and am about to start building my first one. However Im now starting to second guess myself on my hard drive selection. I have been planning on using a 74gig 10,000 RPM Raptor for my OS, games, Office applications, and that type of thing and a 250gig 7,200 RPM Seagate Baracuda for pretty much everything else. My first question is, do you think 74 gigs is enough for this type of storage? I'm already pushing it from a budget stand-point and cant afford to get a 150 gig Raptor. And second, all other thing being equal, will there be much of difference between a HDD with a 8mb cashe and 16mb cashe? Thank you for any help you can give me.

I'd recommend you use a single large Seagate 7200.10 drive. It's essentially as fast as a Raptor and is a lot more cost effective.

Yes, there is a nice difference between a 8MB and 16MB HD, but today's HDs are pretty fast, some giving the Raptor a run for it's money in speed (even beating it in some benchmarks). If you are on a budget, the skip the Raptor and go right with something like the 320GB Seagate which is under $100 at Newegg.com
