Small Hidden Partition on Dell Notebook
Do I really need to copy the hidden(NON-Dos) partition on my Dell Inspirion 2600 laptop to my new hard drive? I have an image of the main partition to restore to the new hdd but I cant find a definitvie answer on the Dell Knowledge base about the hiden partition. It seems to me that it is just a restore/rebuild partition and I don't really need it unless I want to go back to factory condition. Any help would be great. TIA

If it's the 32mb partition, that's the diagnostic partition. If it's a few gigs, that's the recovery partition. If you don't have the diagnostic partition, you have to boot with the Dell Resource CD to run diagnostics.

Yea it says it 31 mb. I dont mind using the cd to run diags. I found a tute to rebuild the partition after upgrade but I dont know if I need to jump through all those hoops just so I cam run the diags off of the partition. Just wanted to make sure it isnt critical. Thanks for the info.
