Minimum specs to run DX10 games for next year (2007)

Right boys,

I am pretty sure my amd 3000+, Nvidia 6600GT 128M and 1GB PC3200 isn't gunna cut it for next year, it's beginning to fail playing the latest games this year (Scarface, M$ X) so the idea of running next years games is laughable. (The componants in this machine I'll build a nice htpc with, so it's not going to waste)

Anyway I got thinking if I want to run DX10 games (till 2008ish) and maybe Vista under it. What will I need as a minimum, by minimum I mean no less than 60fps and at 1280x1024 (med/high)

Would this do as a rough basis? (ignore dvd, hdd, fdd? other things I'm looking at the main four parts)

Is it worth getting a E6600 CPU considering the extra money?

Will a older GFX card, ie a 7950GT run DX or is that too old gen?

I'll have about £600 near new year so a bit more saving and I'll propose a spec.

The 8800s I think are the only ones rated for DX10.
I would wait until there are some DX10 games out there and how well they run with today's equipment.

They're not going to turn their back on XP. It's the ONLY THING they've even got right now.
