SATA drive in external usb case

I've been running ATA IDE hard drives both from a PCI card inside the computer case, and in external USB IDE hard drive enclosures.

If I get a SATA hard drive, and an external USB enclosure that handles a SATA drive, can I run the SATA from the USB port of a computer that does NOT have the SATA drivers in the motherboard?

In short, will the SATA drive work in an older computer when used in an external USB enclosure?

no, not the the ordinary kind of enclosures.
but there are some external enclosures that do EXACTLY what you want. you need to look at the specifications of the enclosure.
the kind of enclosure you need for older computer MUST have a "CONVERTER" which converts SATA to IDE/ata-ide / USB2.0.

I found a Metal Gear Box model that I think might work. Specs say this:

"SATA (Serial ATA) internal Hard drive convert to external USB 2.0 & SATA port"

Will that work to use SATA drive in an external enclose for a computer without SATA drivers?
