Problems With Shared Epson D88 Printer

I have a desktop PC wired to wireless router/modem, and I have a laptop running wirelessly from the router. I have an Epson D88 printer connected to the desktop PC, and I have managed after a lot of grief to get the laptop to pickup the printer and install the drivers for it. Everything apperas to work fine until you select print and it opens the printer box, but when I do print it nothing prints When I look at the printer icon in control panel and click properties the documents are there waiting and the one at the top of the list is stating printing. I have cancelled all prints and started again but nothing is happening. I have even re-installed the printer but nothing is happening. It took me a while to initially install the printer because of firewall settings, once installed I thought that would be that, has anybody got any ideas please?

Uninstall all 3rd party firewalls on both computers, use the XP SP2 firewall, and ensure file and printer sharing is checked in the firewall exceptions.
