cooling c2d

What is the best cpu cooler for a core 2 duo that is somewhat cheap, small and quiet.

i am looking at the SILVERSTONE SST-NT01V2.0 CPU Cooling Heat sink but i don't know if it will fit on my motherboard ( Intel BOXDG965WHMKR)

What's wrong with stock cooling?

That may or may not fit but another suggestion is the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.

That heatsink looks like it would be very top heavy. Top heavy heatsinks put a lot of stress on the motherboard.

Have a Zalman 9500 that I'm saving for a Conroe build. I should be fine as I'll using a cpu backing plate behind the mobo huh? (A lot of people sure are going with the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro.} Haven't seen any board stress issues on any sites. Is this that big of an issue?

Well, yeah. When you think about it, your mobo is very fragile with all of the circuitry in it. The stress of a cooling device on the board literally 24/7 can add up to be a lot.

PS, I have the CNPS9500...great cooler.
