Can I install my IDE hard drive fron my old PC to my new PC as a second drive? If so, how do I do this myself? My new PC has an ASUS MB, 3200 AMD 64 Processor, 1 GB RAM. I'm running Win XP and the new WD 80 GB SCSI drive is connected with a narrow red cable to the MB. My old drive had a wide gray cable to connect to MB. I want to add the IDE drive to transfer some old data to the new drive and to use it as a storage disk.

Just to clarify terms, if you are using a narrow red cable, that is a SATA drive, not SCSI.
And that being said, yes you can hook up your old IDE drive along side the new drive. Windows should recognize it and you can transfer data.

I installed the IDE drive with a jumper in the slave position, plugged the ribbon cable into the HD on the second connector. When I tried to boot up the PC it tried to boot up on the IDE drive and not the SATA drive. The IDE drive has WIn 98 OS and it just locked up. Had to shut down and disconnect it. Booted up again and evrythng worked fine. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to jumper the SATA drive? HELP????????

No, you have to set the SATA drive first in the boot order.
