Question Adding A Second Hd

Hello people! well as you can guess what im trying to do is install a 2nd hard drive. This is my question! my boot drive is a sata 250gb wd/hd and what i want to do is install a wd 80gb ata hard drive that i have pulled from my other computer that was just for storage only. what i'm trying to do is put an adapter on the 80gb hd to change it over to a sata drive. but when i connected it all and powered up walla no 2nd hd. Is there anyone who can talk me through this problem and make some sence of this? thanks people!!!

Will it work if you connect it directly to IDE?

As long as you are not trying to do anything fancy like set up a RAID array you should ditch the adapter and set it up as intended. Make sure you have the SATA drive set to boot first in the bios. If all you are using the 80GB drive for is storage I highly advise just going with the ide connection and ditch the adapter. No need for a RAID array.
