Did you UNHIDE the extensions as indicated in my last post? For this troubleshooting, I recommend you switch your explorer over to Details view.

Yes, I have read post 56. I just looked at Device Manager, and honestly, I don't know where the info on post 56 came from. If I can paste a screen print to a reply I will screen print the current device manager.

Save the screen print as a .jpg with a file size under 100k and attach it to a reply. Use the post reply, not the quick reply.
You can use the free Irfanview to convert the .bmp to a .jpg and crop/resize as necessary. |

USE Device MANAGER VIEW >>> BY CONNECTION >>> INTERRUPT REQUEST
BUT if you got those from BIOS then this is what is WRONG with it.. And you need to adjust them MANUALLY . |

Reply to glc - If I push the Screen Print button on the keyboard how do I get a choice to save it as a .jpg? I have used Screen Print before in MS Word but I am totally lost whit it comes to putting it on here.
Also can't seem to get to Undernet.org. I have dialup and it seemed very slow. |

Your USB 2.0 card is using 3 IRQ's. I'd pull that one first. Do you absolutely need USB 2.0?

Thanks
So the one before (post number 56) was from the BIOS - you need to free up some IRQ's in the Bios because there is it where it makes the Problem. you need to be sure that IRQ 14 and 15 are not used for anything else than the IDE CHANNELS. with this I mean your slots in the Bios have to be Set according to the one on windows - Only that way you stay a chance to complete this successful. hrpo If you need help on bios editing let me know.. If you like I can place a picture BIOS for how it should be for each page. Last edited by Hpro; 07-30-2007 at 08:30 AM. |

This is just a recap :
If I disable the IDE Primary and Secondary the machine boots up fine and everything works except the Optical Drive. I am fairly sure that if I were to unplug the cables from the drive and leave the IDE's disabled everything would work. The minute I try to install the optical drive and set the IDE Secondary to enable, the system hangs at the PCI screen. |

Will your key work in the onboard USB 1.1 ports if you remove the card and enable the onboard USB in the bios?

One more thing
In the standard Settings of your Bios you can SET it to NONE - If you only need the CD Drives - this will bypass detection of PCI and then install the CDROM afterwards.. Look at this so you know what I mean.. http://www.hecco.ch/images/standard-cmos.jpg Try this Settings - but don't connect the PRIMARY HARDDRIVE. |

glc, I am not sure what Hpro is going to have me do. I don't see any duplications of IRQ 14 & 15. I believe the setting in the bios in the PCI / PNP setting are all set to AUTO and that PNP is disabled.

Is there any option to ADD/ Remove Ports from this CARD by the BIOS of the card and / or a external program - it's a little bit much if on card uses up 3 IRQ's |

In my post I refer to your Settings from Windows Device manager. So all what I would like you to try is to assign a FIX IRQ Equal to those in Windows to each and ONE SLOT . This will force IRQ TO the assigned SLOTS - in POST #56 you gave me a List and this list conflicts with the IDE CONTROLLER. I dont know where you got this one from but I know that it conflicts. So its just a try and nothing will break if you try .. the most .. the computer will hang as before so reverting will bring it back to as it is right now. It's up to you if you try or not.. But if you try and it works - then you are done. Regards.. hpro |
