quick question regarding sata/ata
I have a quick question regarding the hard drive in my comptuer. Right now I'm running my comptuer with a SATA Seagate Harddive and recently purchased an external SATA enclosure; I have decided to take the SATA and put it into the enclosure to make an external hd. I have a couple of ATA Maxtor hard drives I picked up from Staples this past Black Friday.
Now my question, is it possible to connect the ATA as a slave while my SATA is installed with my operating system? I want to transfer my files from the SATA to the ATA. I tried it setting the jumpers on the ATA as cable select, but that didn't work it showed up in the setup screen as a primary ide whereas my SATA showed up as a third ide. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

That's fine, it doesn't matter what it shows up at, just set the correct drive first in the boot order.

Yes. "master" and "slave" have nothing to do with that.
