Front panel mic problems

Hi

I have just installed my new Intel motherboard, plus new memory and HDD (see signature) into my existing case.

For some reason the front panel mic is poor, it has a very very feint pickup.
I am pretty sure the case isnt at fault as the front panel worked fine with my previous kit.

All the other ports on the same front panel work, headphone, usb, firewire.

Anyone have any clues as to what may be the problem?

Thanks

M

Have you double checked your mixer settings?

In the mixer settings there are no options for input, just output.
In the microphone settings, I have the option to 'set up my microfphone' but when it tries to test the responsivness it returns that it cant 'hear' anything.

Double click the windows volume icon in the task bar. A window will pop up that should include a slider labeled "microphone."
At the top of the window, hit "options" and then "Advanced Controls"

Now there should be a button labeled "advanced" by the microphone slider. click it, and turn on "Mic boost." That should do it.

If there's no microphone slider, go to options => properties and in the menu labeled "Show the following Volume Controls" make sure "microphone" is checked.

Hi

Thanks for the help, but those instructions seem to be for Windows XP. I have Vista.

I have since revisited the Asus site and they have released a second set of Vista drivers.

These seem to have worked.
