which ram?

Hi all, I am building a new pc, but am unsure on something:

How exactly do I work out which type of RAM I need? Am I right in saying that the ram speed must match the mobo speed? The mobo I have been looking at runs at 1000mhz, so do I need RAM that operates at this speed?

Hope someone can help?

Thanks

mike

It depends on what processor your gonna be using. The motherboard and processor your interested in will help us out.

For Core 2 Duo's get some DDR2-667. It will leave you with some extra bandwidth if ever need be.

That's the standard recommendation for AM2. Any DDR2 will work but the AM2 is sensitive to ram speeds, anything less than 800 results in suboptimal performance.
