Please explain "branched". What type IDE cable (40 or 80 wire), which connector is where, is there another drive on the cable, and how are the drives jumpered? Is it running in DMA mode or PIO?

glc, i really didnt understand some technical words you used upthere. i mean connecting by saying branching , I don't know what is the kind of branching but it's an HP Desktop. There are no other drives on the wire. and please, can you explain me what is the difference between DMA Mode & PIO ?
Thanks For The Support, Respect |

Connect the proper end of the cable to the motherboard. Jumper the drive to MA (master) and place it on the other end of the cable. In Windows, open Device Manager, expand IDE Controllers, and open each channel. There is a Settings tab, on those, make sure all drives are DMA, not PIO.

If your computer is overclocked and you are having a problem with any component, the first troubleshooting step is return everything to stock timings. However, you cannot overclock a HP. Are you asking if the drive has maybe gone bad and needs to be replaced? Yes, that's very possible.
