Non-lightscribe media for lightscribe DVD burner

Hi all................ I've done a search and didn't find an answer to my question, so here I am. I'm receiving a retail version Liteon dvd burner from Newegg today.

http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16827106045

Is it possible to use non lightscribe (cheaper) media in a lightscribe burner, or do you have to use the special lightscribe disks? I may not need the lightscribe functionality on every thing I do.

Can I use any quality media, even dvd's that are printable in some printers?

Thanks for your help.

You can use non-lightscribe media just fine (I'm doing it now). But you can't etch the back, of course.

The burner should burn any standard media; even stuff you can print on.

Yep. There is nothing different between the lightscribe and non-lightscribe burners, just the extra functionality of being able to use lightscribe.

Thanks for the replies. I'm working on a project that will need 30 disks produced and I wouldn't have wanted to wait for the lightscribe.

Thanks again.
