That's a nice buy. The discount is probably due to the fact that the 7200.9 series drives have been replaced by the 7200.10 models, which use perpendicular recording and are very high performance.

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me. High-street bargains are worth looking out for - not everybody is able/willing to shop online. Thanks for sharing the info.

The drive arrived today & I have it installed & running . No, Freakitchen it is a 7200.10 not the older version 7200.9 . I'm happy about that . Took about half an hour to format & partition . I just partitioned it as one large partition . It shows as 372 GB free space & 76 MB used space . Seagate said their drives usually show up with about 20 GB less , depending on the size of the drive . My other 160 GB drive showed , I think about 10 GB less than the advertised size . On the 76MB of used space Seagate said that is what the system had to use for the drive to run .

That's a pretty good deal - retail so it comes with the cable too.
If anybody doesn't want to or can't order from Fry's, there's always the 320 gb for $85 deal at Newegg. The cost is 26.5 cents per gig as opposed to the 25 cent per gig deal the OP mentioned. Both come with 5 year warranties though. Not bad at all!

The only reason I assumed it would be a 7200.9, is because of the model number listed on Fry's website - a google of the number points to various .9 drives at various retailers. If you got a .10, then that's a VERY good deal!

Yeah , I thought it would be the 7200.9 myself . Was surprised when I opened the box . If I had another SATA connection on my motherboard , I'd buy another one .
