LOUD Seagate??

Hey guys, finally finished my own build. It's running mostly fine, considering its on Vista. But, my hard drive, Seagate 7200.10 400GB SATA seems to get very loud when it is being written to. Is this normal? It kinds freaks me out, it sounds like something is rattling, but I've checked and everything is tight (even the filters on the P180B).

I feel like I got a bad drive... or that it's gonna fail soon. It's either rattling or a grinding noise. It only happens when I am installing or deleting something. It works fine though, so far. Please advise. THanks guys.

Tried running ChkDsk, but it won't let me. It says I need a higher privelage access or something... I assume Administrator account access. Trouble is, I already am signed in as the administrator.

This seems to be a recurring problem, it also won't let me run Intel Thermal Analysis Tool, and some other programs have said I need administrator access. I AM the administrator, I only have one account on this PC. Any ideas on this one guys? Microsoft won't give me support unless i fork over $60... I assume because I bought the OEM version. Thanks guys.

Have a look in user accounts in the control panel. You may not be the administrator.

Agreeing with tempus, make yourself the administrator.

I am the administrator. I have confirmed it several times, and have even tried creating a new administrator account. Nothing works. Any thoughts?
