XP Pro SP2 stops recognizing CD/DVD drives after 2 years other XP PCs see them
I built a computer for a friend 2 years ago and equipped it with 2 Sony drives. One is a cd/dvd ROM and the other is a CD/dvd burner. All of a sudden they are not recognized by XP Pro SP2.
The BIOS sees them, I have updated the MB BIOS, XP does not see them in My Computer or in the disk manager. Checking device manager and there are yellow ! on both drives. If I uninstall them in device manager and reboot, XP reloads them but they still have the yellow ! on them in device manager. I took them home, placed them in my XP machine and it see them both with no problems. The drives are: Sony DVD-RW DRU-510A Sony DVD-ROM DDU1612 Any suggestions ASAP would be appreciated. |
