Swapping hard drive for optical drive
I have a simple question. I currently have two optical drives and two hard drives, and each pair is on one cable attached to the motherboard. If I want to add a third hard drive, can I simply remove one of the optical drives and put on the third as a slave on the same cable as the optical? I don't often use the second optical drive, so it isn't much of a loss.
Also, is there a way to add a third HD without losing the optical? Thanks |

You can get an ide cable with an extra connecter but, they don't work on all motherboards. You could try swapping them it wouldn't hurt.

No, you cannot have more than 2 IDE drives on a cable.
Remove the optical and replace it with a hard drive jumpered the same way, or get a PCI IDE controller card. |
