Lian Li PC A16A case

For a while now, I’ve been looking at the Lian Li P60A Plus II as the case to get when I eventually build a system. I liked this case a lot, especially the removable, slide out, motherboard tray.

About the only thing I don’t care for in this case was the placement of the USB, Firewire, and audio connectors at the bottom of the front bezel. I have seen other cases with these connectors higher up or on the top of the cases, but they had no removable motherboard tray, which is a deal breaker for me, due to my fumbling fingers.

A couple of days ago, I accidentally came across a new model from Lian Li, the PC A16A.

This case seems to have everything I wanted, including a washable front filter, which was eliminated from the PC 60A Plus II. I also noticed that they eliminated the cpu cooler fan.

The biggest thing I noticed is that, while the motherboard tray is removable, it’s not a slide out type like the PC 60 Plus II. Rather than sliding out the back with the IO shield and fan attached, it slides forward a bit and then tilts out the right side (as you look at the front of the case) without the IO shield or fan attached.

Is this a better design for a removable motherboard tray? It appears to me that there could be an issue with various outputs on the motherboard getting stuck in the IO shield when attempting to remove the motherboard after the initial installation.

I’ve also had my eye on another new case, the Gigabyte 3D Aurora 570 case.

Although I think a removable motherboard would be easier for me to use, this case is very large and it might just give me enough room to move around in it. It is however, slightly more expensive than the Lian Li, but the difference just may be worth it. The front inputs are higher up on the front bezel as well.

I've decided to invest in a good case so it will be easier for me to work with.

Any thoughts?
