Coolermaster Aquagate
Hello,
I have a coolermaster Aquagate ALS-U01 fitted to an AMD 4200+. I want to upgrade to a Socket 775 Core Duo 6600, does anyone know if the fixings provided will fit the socket 775? When the aquagate was made the socket wasn't available and so it is not in the list of supported sockets. Thank you. |

Case makers and motherboard makers both use a standard mounting hole pattern for ATX and uATX. So any new motherboard you put in the case will work. Mid and full tower cases can use both ATX and uATX motherboards. Smaller cases generally are uATX only.

Hello,
Sorry, the Coolermaster Aquagate is a water cooler not a case. It came with fixings for the Pentium4 range and AMD K7 & K8. Basically, bolts and springs that fit through the 4 holes on the mainboard around the CPU and bolt onto a back plate made of metal that sits on the rear of the board. The makers claim the aquagate will not fit an AM2 or Skt775 board. I have read on a few posts that people claim a combination of the fixings provided can be "made" to fit. Thank you. |

I don't find an ALS-U01 at Coolermaster's site but I do see an ALC-U01 listed there. Maybe a typo? The specs on the ALC specify socket 478 and the K7 & K8 you mention. If others have made it work on a socket 775 they must have made some personal modifications. The 478 and 775 are totally different inlcuding the cpu design and retention methods. Coolermaster does offer a newer Aquagate designed for the 775. You might consider contacting them to see if you can purchase separate parts to adapt your unit to the new socket.
