CRASH Pc 3200 - Pc 2700

Ok so my computer is the HP Pavillion a450n

I bought it about 3-4 years ago, and from what I have heard, it was already discontinued by then(rumors, no concrete evidence).

I use my pc for gaming ( America's Army) and I don't do too good with my pc, I get what is called lag, low frames per second and my computer is relatively slow if I minimize my game and try to run any other application.

A friend of mine tryed to solve my problem and sent me 1 x 512mb PC2700 + 2 x 256mb Pc2700 to put into my computer to replace the actualy 512mb PC3200 I have right now.

The most detailed website I found about the specs of my pc was this: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...name=c00058235

My pc also has what I think is built in sound(no sound card) - so to enhance my gaming, my friend also sent me a Creative SoundBlaster Audigy Ls to install.

So about 2 nights ago I read over some guids on how to install both the RAM and the SoundCard, I did exactly what they told me to do, and followed it step by step, I thought it was a complete success. I installed the drives and everything was perfect.... Except that now I sometimes hear the sound that is usually made when something that spins is stuck maybe or is hitting something, i get that sound and my pc turns off and restarts.

When it restarts it goes through the first screen where the big HP shows up and gives you the F1 and F10 option. After this a black screen comes with an underscore that blinks, it goes down a few lines and the next screen is blue for a quick second like an error screen and the pc shuts off(the blue screen is only displayed for a quick second) then it tells me that i have the option to start in safe mode, or in normal mode, or with the last saved configuration( or something like that) and it says if this happened, then click the last one , etc. So I click the last option - Start PC normally. And if im lucky it works, if not the whole blue screen thing pops up again.

Say im lucky and it works, im on my pc browsing forums talking on TS( a voice communication program) and all of a sudden I hear the ''studdering'' noise again and my pc turns off.

PS: in my pc there are only 2 slots - I have the 512 and the 256,both PC 2700, which runs faster than just the old PC 3200 512 i had before. The thing is that when I put these two RAMs in they work for a bit, my pc is much faster etc but it turns off randomly and it sometimes takes lke 20 restarts for it to kick in. On the other hand if i just put my old 512MB of RAM it works fine, I still hear the ''Studdering'' sound while ingame etc but the pc doesn't restart, it just freezes for about 2 seconds top and it keeps going.

I have no idea what might be the problem and some of my online friends have given me some advice and well as helpfull as they have tryed to be we haven't gotten the problem down, so I ask if maybe any of you can help me out, or pinpoint me in the right direction.

Anyhelp is thanked gratefully, any criticism, comments and suggestions on upgrades, pc specs etc are welcomed, and again thanks.

I see a couple of potential issues here. First I would put the original memory back in and remove the PC2700 sticks temporarily. We need to determine which addition caused the bsod problem. After changing the memory back, beboot to the bios (F10 I believe) and Disable the onboard sound if you didn't already. Now boot up and do normal tasks and see if the Blue Screens (bsod's) stop. If they do, you probably were using memory that is incomaptible with your pc. The best way to add more memory to a store bought pc is to buy directly from a memory manufacturer that uses a confgurator to determine the correct memory. Crucial.com is one of the best. They guarantee their memory will work in your pc.

Also, turn off the Auto Restart on error feature. This will allow the bsod to remain on the screen so you can copy the info and post it here should you get another bsod.

Start>right click My Computer>Properties>Advanced tab>Settings button under Startup and Recovery>uncheck the Auto Restart box under System Failure

edit: Here's the exact memory guaranteed to work for your pc.

ok so my computer runs fine with my old memory

then i tryed placing one 512 and one 256 PC2700 (both obviously) and my monitor didn't light up, i turned on the computer but my monitor didn't light on, the light was yellow(like when the pc is off).

Then i thought that maybe I had to install it in matching pairs so i left the 512 in and took out the 256, and when i started my pc it just gave me a beep beep beep(continually) so i turned it off (by pressing the on button for 5 seconds) and placed the old 3200 512 on. Its working fine so I dont know, maybe I should just wait to get another 3200 and discard the 2700, or what do you suggest ?

Yup, just run the old 512 until you can afford another stick from that Crucial site I linked. That way you can be sure it will work.

i know im stubborn i know and i am sorry but i really need this new ram hehe well i did what u told me panama and it turns out that the BSOD pretty much says that i need to update my BIOS to ensure ACPI compliance

Anytips on how to do this, i have been doing some reading but i am scared to do something wrong and then mess up my whole computer, also i have found these 2 sites that say that they have the BIOS download but i am not sure which one to go with:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/S...-Utility.shtml

or

http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=es-ar

Any help, please ?

EDIT:The BSOD said the following: (i am going to type the ACTUAL thing in french, and then attempt to translate to English, please forgive for either of these is my native language) so here we go:
