Carbon fiber would be light, strong, quiet, and sexy.

One issue though. It conducts electricity just like metal, so take heed.

Might be difficult to deal with edges also. I've worked a bit with the stuff in the automotive arena. Top dollar lightweight parts for those that really need them -- or want the look.

what if i put carbon fiber on a metal case that would give it the same effect but would not be as cool as making one entirely out of carbon fiber

Sure, why not...

Here are a couple of sources (no recommendations just links for ideas):

can you paint carbon fiber cause i have a silver and blue theme right now and if I do carbon fiber then it would be a black and blue theme but maybe if I could paint it I could make it look really cool.

There are some carbon fibers out there in color, including blue and silver. They look really cool. The new Mercedes line has silver CF on its dash.

These dudes are selling custom auto parts, so they're getting the stuff somewhere.

This company has a lot of products, including silver:

hey thanks for your help I think I'll go with coolbulbs I would go with jamestown but then I would have to custom fab my own plywood box and I don't think I'm ready for that yet.

Again, just so you know, I just found some links -- I'm not making any recommendation for any of the places I found. I've done no business with any of them, but I might...

I too love the look of carbon fiber.

Post some pics when you get it figured out.

Sometimes carbon fiber is laid over foam. After it cures the foam is dissolved with acetone leaving just the carbon fiber. Carbon fiber/epoxy is difficult to work with and relatively expensive. It takes some practice to get it right.
