CPU temp at 85 C
I just finished putting components together. Thanks to PCmech. I haven't loaded the OS yet.
I have 2 problems: 1. CPU temperature is 85 C. I followed all the HS installation steps, and will do it again. But I am surprised the temp was 85 in less than 2 minutes. Is that normal? 2. When it starts, it says "CMOS settings Wrong" . I re-read the manual on jumpers and clearing CMOS and rebooted. It didn't help. I ingored it. Any help will be appreciated System: CPU: Intel core 2 Duo E6600 2.5 GHz Asus P5B-E Corsair PC 6400 (2 x 1GB) HDD: sata 7200.10 (320 GB) |

first, I installed the CPU while the motherboard was outside of the case, then installed the heat sink when the moboard was in the case.
Yes, the "CMOS settings wrong" comes up every time I boot up. But I can still get into the BIOS. It detects RAM, DVD drive and the HDD. |

thanks a lot. I am typing this from my new comp, thanks to PCmech community for the help.
The thing now runs at between 46 to 51 degrees celcius. Hopefully that is normal. Is there a way I could monitor the CPU temp while running windows XP? |

Intel thermal analysis tool (TAT) and CoreTemp are the best, looking at those temps in BIOS = a good temp per core. From now on all temps regarding your C2D are going to be per core. <60C under load = good. >60C = bad :[ get some help.
Are you overclocking your CPU? E6600's run at 2.4Ghz default. |
