CDRW/DVD-R won't burn cd's now.

Have a Samsung CDRW/DVD-R that is not burning cd's now. Guess it's common for one side or the other to just die? K...can this ever be just a driver issue or is it most likely a physical hardware issue. (Used an oem drive so I used the windows drivers and they seemed to work fine.) Can a critter kill burning?

Most likely a physical hardware issue.
Has XP popped up any messages or is it just ignoring the disk until you give up and hit "eject"?

Hmmnn....
Right click on the drive in My Computer and chose Properties>Hardware ( check through the other tab choices as well ) anything show up?
Is there a yellow "?" in Device Manager ?
Is it only blank disks ( cds) that get that response or is not recognizing anything at all?

Uh-oh...
That's a good solution but you may be having a problem with the media you're using.
