In need of good, free data recovery program...
... I think a virus messed up my disk drive and now when booting into my other windows install, it shows it as completely empty. I had a lot of unbacked up files on there, and I really need to find a good or inexpensive data recovery program.
Thanks for the help. |

"need" "good" and "free" aren't always attainable at the same time.
If Pam's don't work for you, I can recommend "good" and "$40" ... File Scavenger. Worked very well for me recently after I installed WinXP over a data drive. Got about 90% (rough guess) of my stuff back.

More often than before. I did have a full backup of the partition ... but it was 4 months old. So I "lost" some stuff from the ensuing months ... not too much really. File Scavenger recovered a lot. Some raw video files from camcorder that the XP install overwrote are gone. I have the final video, but never backed up the raw video 'cause it's so dang big, even for DVD.
I can also recommend (on that note) backup software called "BackUp4All." Lots of options for backup types, lots of options for media, schedulling, etc. Of course, for free, the built-in Xp Backup works. |
