2GB of RAM vs, 4GB of RAM issue, PLEASE HELP!!!
Guys,
I have an Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 (2.93GHz),XFX NVIDIA 7950 GX2, a MOBO P5N32 SLI SE Deluxe, 2GB RAM Corsair XMS2 DDR2 PC6400 800MHz, Sound Blaster X-Fi, OCZ 700W power supply, Thermaltake Armor Case, and a OS Windows 64-bit Prof. The system itself cools well and it's stable. I had no intentions to overclock because all my games are running well until I played Company of Heroes. On defult settings (Medium High 1072X768)of graphics, and normal sound my RAM would go up to 80% of usage eventually crashing or freezing my computer. I played it at the lowest resolution and would use 65% of RAM but still freeze later in the game. My fist thought was to buy more RAM.......so I purchased 2GB of RAM Corsair XMS2 DDR2 PC6400 800MHz for a total of 4GB of RAM!!! I thought it would solve my problem....IT DIDN'T! It made my computer run SLOWER!!! It ate almost 100% CPU on an Extreme X6800!!!! I uploaded the game and it didn't crash alright but it ran 0 fps (frames per second) on the game and took forever and a day to load. Even opening Internet Explorer would be slow! Why would my computer run well on a 2GB of RAM and when I plug 4GB of RAM my computer runs slow? What can I do so my system is stable running 4GB of RAM??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

I'm no expert and I don't know if it could be the problem, but...
Is the RAM that you added the same CAS as the old ram? |

Make certain that you have the latest patches and fixes for Company of Heroes. In addition, what operating system are you running the game on?

Have you updated your video and audio drivers? Nine times out of ten I find those are the culprit. It's not your RAM, in all likelihood.

Check the game it may and probably is having problems with X64. That OS was intended for buisness users only and it does have issues with 32 bit software. i have it but only use it in a dual boot when working at home. It was built on the Sever 2003 kernal and as we all know that is a bitch to get games to work on *LOL*

Me, I'd remove the old and try just the new sticks - see if it speeds back up. I'd suspect one of the new sticks was bad. The new memtest 86 can confirm it.
