What is Spread Spectrum?

I had CPU spread spectrum enabled om my msi nforce3 board, and ive heard that this can cause problems with some sata drives. Is that true? Should i have it disabled or enabled and what does it do? Btw i have a AMD anthlon 64 with 1gb memory, 2 ide drives, one sata WDC Raptor, and a Sata 250gb Maxtor that freezes up the pc when i plug it in.

What it is and does: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spread_...nal_generation

The usefulness of spread spectrum clocking as a method of actually reducing interference is often debated, but it is probable that some electronic equipment with sensitivity to a narrowband of frequencies will experience less interference, while other equipment with broadband sensitivity will experience more interference.

One common reason for system problems when adding something like a hard drive is a weak, failing, or underpowered power supply. What's your make, model, and rating your PS?

It´s an OCZ Modstream 430w, is it a bad psu? I have a DVD burner, 3 hardrives, a Waterpump and 3 80mm fans, and a sunbeam rheobus connected to it, apart from four usb things but they all have their own power supply.

You power supply is not a bad one... it may just be overloaded or underpowered for your current setup.

What are your complete system specs? Especially your video card.

My videocard is a Gainward 6800 Ultra AGP with a separate power molex.

My systemspecs are:

MSI Nforce3 mainboard
Gainward 6800 AGP Ultra 256mb
2x512 OCZ Platinum memory modules
AMD Athlon 64 4000+
OCZ Modstream 430w powersupply
2 Maxtor IDE drives
1 WDC Raptor 75gb Sata Maindrive
1 Nec DVD burner
1 Sunbeam v2 Rheobus
3 80mm Adda fans
1 MCP600 12v Swiftech Waterpump
1 Swiftech 6002 CPU waterblock
1 Dangerden Maze4 Brasstop GPU waterblock
Lian Li PC75B Case
Windows XP SP2 Pro

I think thats all there is

And now im trying to connect another Samsung 250gb Spinpoint Sata drive, with no luck, the pc oly restarts again and again.

Yep it sounds like your power supply can't handle your setup.

You can use one of the calculators here to help you estimate how much power you will need.

What Power Supply should I get? How many Watts? Who made it? Guide Inside

I think a QUALITY PSU with over 500 watts should be good.

Something like this one:
CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 520W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC Class B, TUV, CCC, C-tick - Retail

Have you tried a different molex and switching its position on the modular interface?
