Thermalright Ultra120..Scythe Infinity, Sunbeam Suniq Tower..and if your looking for bang/buck the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. Available between $25-35 US.

And its not really possible to say how many degrees the temperature will drop, everybody's system is different. I would look to improve case cooling if you haven't already.

Why don't you like the pushpins? They work out great for my Thermaltake TMG 1i. I also use AS Ceremique for the TIM. It keeps my e6400 @ 3.5 CPU temps below 50C load and is very quiet, I'd highly recomend.

The Tuniq Tower and Scythe Infinity are at $50.

I have no other suggestions, these are some of the top performing heatsinks on the market for their price ranges. If I were in your position I would go for the Arctic Cooling Freezer. The Pushpins are a whole lot easier then the solutions on these other heatsinks, its also like half the price.

To me it seems like something thats going to be important, but not going to make me buy vista for a while.

Yes..very much so, but thats for AMD cpu's, if you have a intel processor you need the Freezer 7 Pro version.

You can get it here real cheap:
