mouse quits working for short periods
Hi,
My mouse has decided to quit working every 10 minutes, or so, for anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Just now it quit and I realized my keyboard quits working too. I have re-booted multiple times, changed USB ports of my mouse, changed from USB to serial port, switched to a different mouse and still no improvement. So I'm guessing it is not the mouse, esp. since the keyboard isn't working either. There are no error messages in the startup. Anyone have any thoughts on where I go from here? Oh, I did check the fans, I thought maybe it was too hot, but they are all working. I have AC probe and it said the processor temp was 95F and the motherboard was 86 F. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

This is a home built pc, thanks to this forum. It is almost a year old. AMD athlon 64 2gh processor, 1024mb memory, ASUS mb, A8n5x. WD2500 250gb hard drive. Radeon x1300 series, nvidia nforce4 controller. I'm not exactly sure what specs you need, so let me know what else. Thanks for your help and patience!

What application and/or game are you running when this occurs?

I could be doing anything. I thought maybe it was the power supply. So I put in a new one. It is now, at least, letting me boot up. But it is still occasionally getting stuck, or frozen. It will sometimes freeze at the mb screen during start up, or sometimes at the windows screen. When I am online, reading e-mail, or trying to print a document. Since it isn't the power supply, my fear is that it is the motherboard. I may have to take it in for repair. I just don't know where to go from here.
