Upgrading Processor

I want to upgrade my rig, is this a stupid time? i want to get a new processor, thinkin C2D, but i keep hearing stuff about new processors coming out.

Can u please give me some links to stuff, so far i was thinkin

or

or even this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103773
but how does it compare? and if you think this is the better option give me a mobo and some ram to match it.

and

I notice this motherboard is getting only 40% 5 star, any other recommendations?

I plan on overclocking so i thought sht XMS was more necessary than the Value stuff.

Like i said, i dont know if now is a good time to upgrade, i want to have good stuff, but i dont want to spend a fortune, should i save my money and wait for the next set of Intel or AMD chips to come out? or just buy now?

BTW..... Im a gamer

Now is a fine time to upgrade, and your choices are solid. You only need the DDR2-667, and the price is excellent right now. Don't worry about the Newegg ratings, that is a solid board.

Can you please explain to me why i should get the value ram, and not the XMS. What would i be losing by not getting the XMS ram, would i be losing anything?

Keep in mind i want to overclock, i trust your decisions, just wanted to make sure you saw the overclock part. To Be Honest i dont understand the difference in Ram Timings, thats the main reason im asking.

I was just stating that for the stock Core 2 Duo, DDR2-667 is the best match. However, since you want to overclock, the DDR2-800 is a better fit. Don't worry about timings (I personally don't think timings make a difference, but thats another debate). The key here is that with the faster ram (800Mhz), you'll have lots of headroom for overclocking via the FSB.

Ok cool, i will probably get the XMS then, i also just noticed that the specs for the mobo said standard was ddr2 800, would the value ram even work in this motherboard?

direct quote

"Notice: Only DDR2-800 memory supporting JEDEC approved 1.8V operation with timings of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 is supported on Intel Desktop Boards based on Intel 965 Express Chipsets."

Does this even apply to me? lol

The XMS specs are:

Timing 5-5-5-12
Voltage 1.9V

So the XMS modules will work fine.
