bad RAM?
I just bought a pair of Value select Corsair RAM. I replaced 2 sticks of Kingston 256MB with the new ram. I also have 2 sticks of 512mb PQI RAM that I kept in my computer. Now when loading a game (RCT3) the computer goes to a black screen and then sometimes a screen that says make sure your new hardware is installed properly. So I took out all 4 sticks of RAM and re-inserted them.... only the get the same problem. When I dxdiag it shows all 3 GB of my RAM so it knows its there. Did I get a bad stick of RAM? I purchased it from newegg. I had this same problem about two years ago with the same system. I narrowed it down to 1 of 2 sticks of PQI RAM and then was given the kingston Ram by a friend and kinda forgot about the problem.
Any ideas of fixing the current situation? thanks

I tried running memtest and had a few problems:
1st time running it: it froze 1:35 seconds into memtest 2nd time: it froze 3:25 into memtest -then i read the readme with memtest and found i should disable USB legacy support -I then tried restarting to access my bios settings but each time I powered off my computer then powered back on nothing would come up on my screen... i tried power off/on 4-5 times before it came back on my screen and I could access bios.... then it froze at the bios screen. -Next I took out the new RAM and inserted the RAM I had before my attempted update today and the machine works fine. any ideas of where I should go from there I would greatly appreciate it

If it's within 30 days, RMA it with Newegg, it will be quicker than dealing with Corsair. It's a lifetime warranty so you are covered by Corsair anyway. If it's a dual channel kit, you have to return both modules.
