I just got started putting it together and I already can't stand the thing. They made the cable on the inside way too long so it puts stress on the drive and the circuit board in the enclosure. More importantly, the lid to the enclosure will NOT secure properly. No matter what I do, it keeps popping up a little bit and not sitting down properly on top of the drive. Has anyone else had issues with this?

I have an Apricorn enclosure, usb 2.0. for a PATA drive, and nothing like what you're describing applies. Nor does it apply to any I've bought for customers.
I'd like a link to the enclosure you're having trouble with, it's one I'll want to avoid.

It's just like any of their other enclosures in terms of securing the drive. I ended up having to just put it in the stand without using the screws. The way it works is the top plate pops off, you put the drive in, and secure it using two screws on either side that go through the top plate and into the drive. No matter what I do, one side or the other pops up on the plate when i screw it in. Crappy design

Hmmnnn....
That's the same design I use with no trouble but I was checking customer reviews at newegg and it seems Seagate and that enclosure don't work well together and getting the cable to lay flat is a problem : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817362002 Like I said I haven't had any problems but there seems to be design glitch. Email the guys at Apricorn, a little customer feed back can work wonders. |
