virtual memory
My p4 has 640mb memory and 2 hard drives. I have heard that putting virtual memory to write on a different drive than the drives the games are being played on increases speed. Also, I ran system monitor the other day and it was still swapping with over 120mb of memory left over. How can I change that? What possible use could there be to swap with so much memory left over?

Double check your system monitor, there are two possible readings. One is "swapfile size", the other is "swapfile in use". I run 512Mb and my swapfile is always 120Mb, but I rarely have any of it in use.

Right now, there is only a thin sliver of activity according to system monitor, but I have over 400mb free ram available.
