How much RAM is supported by Windows XP Professional?
Is it 2gb's or 4gb's?? If it's 4gb's then do I need to do anything special other than throwing two more sticks in? Any BIOS config? If I got XP x64, who makes a MOBO that has capacity for more than 4gb's? And is XP x64 a reliable OS? Mahalo, Matt |

XP 64 bit edition is not really a reliable OS since hardware manufacturers didn't focus too much effort into releasing compatible drivers. In addition, not too many programs take advantage of all that 64 bit computing has to offer.
Windows XP supports 4 gb total ram, but I believe that I read a few weeks ago that there is some overhead if you choose to install 4 gb, meaning that the most ram that can be used by the system is 3.5 gb. Nope, there's no BIOS configuration that I can think of - the ram should be automatically detected.

Window's 32 bit will only see ~ 3.2. This link lists Vista, but it's the same for XP:
