Installing 2 new SATA in Raid0

New here but it looks like the tech are on it.

Here goes...My old HDD's were starting to get errors and failures so I thought it was time to get some new ones. (original ones were striped) but I wanted to go RAID0 this time. Installed the new HD's and connected the SATA cables to the red connectors on the ASUS motherboard. Started computer andentered the RAID setup in BIOS. I set up RAID and it showed 111 GB each and designated them as RAID0. (no problem) Exit bios and try to install WindowsXP and it won't boot from disk. It actually said to put in disk and hit any key. (yes I read the post about "Don't hit any key". Turned computor off and restart, entered bios again still shows HD's in raid but when I go to Hardware in bios it only reads my CD-ROM and DVD-ROM, shows 0GB SATA primary and slave (or drive 1 and 2) can't remember and it was late last night. Gave up and put the AlienWare Respawn disk in and it only read disk 2 as completely there and disk 1 with a 15mb compacity. This bios crap just scares the heck outta me. Went ahead and proceeded with the respawn and then it went to boot windows, but I got the start windows in safe mode screen. Tried all options but it would just come back to that screen after reboot. HELP

ASUS motherboard with 64 FX-55 chip
Dual 256MB Geforce 7800 GTX KO (SLI- Enabled)
2GB Dual Channel DDR PC-3200

Why not keep it simple and use a single drive?

I used my CPU for paying bills (once a month) and the rest of the time I'm gaming...so I guess it's a performance issue I'm looking for.

No tech help out there????

Make sure you set your BIOS to boot from the array, and not one of the drives. I had a similar problem (w/ ASUS P4C800), and it was fixed this way, but I cannot verify the specific settings as that computer is not here.

Great I'll look for it, without windows loaded yet don't I have to set the boot to cd-rom until it is all loaded and then set it to the array...

Thanks any more help or info would be appreciated
