Best CPU coolers for Overclocking q6600

Hey all,

I would like to find out which coolers (heatsink + fan) are best for the q6600. I plan to overclock it from 2.4 ghz and 1066 fsb to 3.0 ghz and 1333fsb; I have seen it done in a q6600 review, except they did not provide the cooler they used. If anyone has a suggestion, please post here.

Thanks all,
Jak

Would you mind terribly providing a link to the review you mentioned?

I've been trying to decide betweeen the q6600 and the e6850, and if there's the possibility of getting identical performance + quad core at the same price, that could change my thinking entirely...

Air cooling-wise, the ARCTIC COOLING FREEZER 7 PRO is first class. I run my E6420 3200mhz default and the CPU temp is 29-31C. Ran 12.5 hours ORTHOS and never passed 39C. I thought that you had to use liquid cooling for those temps. Excellent cooler. BIG. Be sure it won't collide with motherboard components. I only had 1/16" clearance between the fan housing and my NB heatsink.

I would use this Vantec Stealth fan or this GlobalWin fan or this Yate Loon fan.

Cool

Jereag, I am doing exactly what you describe. I'm overclocking my Q6600 @ 3Ghz with stock voltage settings. I'm using the Scythe Infinity and absolutely LOVE it. It's extremely quiet and my CPU idles at 38-39C. After gaming for an hour, it runs at like 52-53C. I'm running a dual fan setup. I've got a SilverStone FM121 fan blowing into it and the stock Scythe fan sucking out of it. I know the screenshot says that I'm running at 3.2Ghz but I couldn't get some benches to pass so I just decided to run it at 3.0 instead of fiddling with voltages and it's stable as can be. Also, I got the Infinity from Directron for $39 which was a STEAL. Check out some pics...
