Upgrade cooling worries...
I'm currently in the process of upgrading my computer.
What I've got right now is: Asus p4p800 512 Corsair XMS DDR400 pc3200 P4 2.8 800Mhz FSB Radeon 9800pro 128 Antec case with all 80mm side intake, top exhaust, 2 rear exhausts, stock heatsink. I've got 2 gigs of Ram in the mail as we speak. After that I'm going to upgrade my 9800pro to a x1950pro 512. This pretty much seems to be the most common upgrade for anyone with an AGP 4x/8x mobo. I want to pick up some sort of water cooling kit, even if it's just a pre-made cheap model. I want a quieter computer, and I'd like to OC the 2.8 to 3.36 or 3.6 (I've done both on air cooling before) My fear is that with no case fans running, the GFX card will be in danger. My options seem to be simply hope it doesn't overheat, keep some case fans circulating air, or add on another sink to the water cooling kit. Any other options, or recommendations for a kit that could be added on to? Thanks a bunch. |

Before you install that X1950, make sure that your PSU has the wattage to handle the extra load. Instead of a cheap WC kit, would look for a quailty HSU. One with a big fan(big fan means lower RPMs means less noise). And look for quieter fans for the case.

Wow, almost overlooked that completely. My psu is only 360w, so I'll probably have to upgrade that too.
