fdd not working
Hello all, I'm new to the website was trolling around looking for a solution to my pc problems. I recently decided that after 6 years my old pc was no longer doing its job so I took it upon myself to build a new pc. having no experience other than ripping the old one apart for cleaning and maintenance I have to say i was unprepared lol. With a friends help I purchased parts and tried to salvage some from the old one. I got a powmax case, Okia 550w PS, a DFI Infinity NF sli-m2 MoBo, Brisbane AM2 socket 3600+ cpu (which does not work with my MoBo till I update my BIOS), took the fdd from my old pc as well as my cd rom and dvd rom, also purchased a Western Digital SATA 160gig hdd since i managed to burn my 80gig out and corrupted my 40gig, and an MSI NX8500gt 256mb DDR2. As i said first i got it assembled and couldnt get the pc to POST.. after researching found i have to update my BIOS. So I tried to put the program to update bios on a floppy and now come to find out my floppy drive does not show under my computer I went through to see what could be the problem but according to my pc there are no problems with it, its also saying my 1394 port which ive never heard of is connected to the internet at 400.0 but its not connected to anything at all lol. Any help with either of these would be greatly appreciated. I forgot to mention when i found my brisbane cpu would not post i purchased an amd socket am2 sempron 3000+.

Make sure the floppy cable is installed correctly. End with the twist goes to the floppy drive, stripe on the edge lines up to pin 1 on the motherboard and floppy drive.

If the light is on constantly, the cable is installed the wrong way.
Is that a brand new floppy drive or an old one? If it's old you might need to open it up to get it a good cleaning. Do you have another working floppy drive you can swap in to use? Cricket

yea its from my 6yo pc it flop it around again, lol if it werent for the need to update my BIOS I'd say forget the fdd, but i did switch it back so that the power light wasnt always on and i also put in a different fdd that came out of a HP that i know works fine so it looks like it might be the ide cable plugged into em.
