Is my HDD dieing?
I have a Samsung 80GB IDE Hard Drive. It used to be very quiet, I could hardly hear it click. Yesterday I cleaned my case out with compressed air (i try to do this a few times a year). When I turned on my computer, my asus made the little beep and I heard a loud groaning noise. I instantly powered down. I couldnt find what would be making the noise, so I booted up again and everything was okay.
Lately it seems like it "clicks" a lot louder during disk activity. I'm actually flashing back to my old 233mhz iMac which had a pretty loud hard drive. Is my drive dieing? It seems to work fine. This is the information from speedfan: http://atown.no-ip.org/cool/smart/disk.html Thanks!

Go to the Samsung web site and download the hard drive diagnostic utility and test your hard drive with it.

Download HDD Health program it is a very good program. I use it all the time.

Thanks for the info! I used the HDD Health and my drive checked out okay. When I was cleaning I tightened the screws on the hard drive, and I guess thats what was causing the problem, because I loosened it and it doesnt sound as loud now.
