Transfer a movie file which has CRC data error
I can watch the movie just fine on my pc, but when I want to move the data to another hd either by copy or move function, halfway thru copying the pop up box comes out saying Data error (cycle redundancy check). Is there a way for me to move or make some sort of backup for this file?

Did you run a chkdsk? You could have some shaky sectors.

I can only scan up to phase 3, when it goes to phase 4, it either stalls or says cannot complete task. But I manage to copy the file now

Sounds like it's time for a full backup. You may also want to download the drive manufacturer's utilities and run a full diagnostic on it.
