this is a laptop right?
Did you do any upgrading to it? or is just a brand new laptop you bought?

Seems like DELL didn't put an updated BIOS on the motherboard, which is odd. If you haven't changed the processor, I'd give DELL a call and see what they say. It may be possible to update the bios using the unsupported CPU, but it may not. If it's not, the usual route is to get a cheap, compatible CPU, but since you bought this retail, DELL should have to fix the issue for you.

Has anything been done to the processor? Is it still in warranty?

I remembered seeing that message before when I had a server with a dual Zeon processors that didn't match exactly. It would still boot up but you had to press F1 everytime. Not too good if you were remote.

Shouldn't be compatibility, i googled and found this from intels website "Supports Intel® Core™ Duo and Intel® Core™ Solo processors" for that chipset. So we can scratch that off the list.
