FSB:DRAM 1:1 question
I have an E6850 with a 333FSB, and 2x1GB crucial ballistix PC2-6400 ram. Would I get better performance if I underclocked the ram to 667 to get a FSB: DRAM 1:1 ratio, or keep the ram at 800, its normal speed, and get a 5:6 ratio? If underclocking it isn't better, would running it at 667 and setting its timing lower to something like 3-3-3-10, rather than its normal timings of 4-4-4-12, be optimal?

as far as i am aware it still runs fine at 1:1 despite ram being faster and you wont get better performance by slowing it down, you just arent utililising the extra speed in the ram.
you could probably do a minor overclock with stock cooling

I slowed it down to get to the 1:1 ratio. "you could probably do a minor overclock with stock cooling" I didn't say anything about overclocking. |

I would run it at it's maximum speed, DDR2-800. I think you'll see the best performance there (but even then, I don't see there being a huge difference). The only reason I'd slow the RAM back to 1:1 is if I wanted to overclock.

Okay thanks. I'll set it back to it's normal speed then.
