Recertified LCD's?
I have been tossing the idea around of buying an LCD TV for use as a television and also a monitor for my new rig that is gonna be here on the 21'st.
What do you guys think about recertified LCD's from newegg? They have some nice refurb LCD's but i am not too confident with buying one. Does anyone have any experience dealing with recertified newegg LCD's? |

That is a pretty good price although im looking for one with DVI inputs on it. My 8800GTS came with two DVI-VGA converters though, do they usually degrade quality?

I've owned a 19" Sceptre LCD for 2 years it's flawless....well, a bit of backlight bleed, but not too bad.
I too have read about quality issues on some Sceptre displays. I'm guessing they just don't use the most high quality panels, so it's kinda hit and miss. Probably why they can offer such great spec's for less than other companies. Another good budget option is Hanns-G or Westinghouse. I don't know much about DVI to VGA quality changes...but from what I understand there will be some decrease in quality...but maybe not anything you can tell, unless you're watching Matrix or other similarly graphics intensive visuals. If you find a good candidate, and the only connection it doesn't have is DVI, but it has other HD connection options, I'd look for a DVI to HDMI/Component/S-Video adapter (though your VGA card should have a standard S-Video plug anyways). This way you're going from one HD connection to another.

If you want to keep the cost down and get a fairly decent TV, go over to Sam's Club and look at the Vizios. They all have dual HDMI inputs in addition to standard VGA. Pricing is approximately:
32" - $600 37" - $750 42" - $900 I just bought the 42" and so far I'm happy with it. |
