Possible problem w/ WD 1TB HD help

I just bought the WD My Book 1TB External HD with Ethernet connection rom bestbuy. The guy was telling me its way faster then usb so I say ok and buy it. I have it hooked up through my wireless router to my laptop, the same 512mb file that took about 30-40secs on my WD My Book 250gb usb 2.0 eHD took my 1tb about 5-6minutes. Is something wrong here? Should I take it back and get usb or firewire?

A Western Digital My Book World Edition ?
If you mentioned the wireless router the guy may have misunderstood what you needed the external for (OK maybe he didn't but I wasn't there so he gets the benefit of the doubt.) .
Don't get me wrong, that would be a great external to use as a NAS, but it's not going to beat a firewire or usb connected external .

I pretty sure that firewire would be the fastest, then usb then Ethernet....(dont quote me)

That guy is a liar:-) not really...he might not have even known and said that so you would buy it or like pam123 said, he might have misunderstood

I'm pretty sure he said it so i could buy it, I never used that on a drive so I didnt know any better well you live and you learn. It kinda has me thinking know though, i was going to spend 327 on it from newegg when I could have put that towards computer parts. My question is, should i build a pc and not get the external or get the external? Running everthing off my laptop with a turion 64 processor isnt cutting it any more. I need dual core. I game but not enough to justify spending over 1k for the parts. I already have a monitor, just need tower parts. Any ideas

Do you need more drive space?
A terabye of it?
If you need the space then get the terabyte drive (usb or firewire) but if you just liked the idea "and it'll fill eventually" then get something smaller and put the money saved into your games' machine fund.
