CPU Fan in Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850

Hello,
I just got this CPU Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850, put it on my ASUS P5K3 and the fan on that CPU is very loud. I havent installed system yet, just turned it on to see if I connected everything right. Is it going to be that loud or when I install system it will be normal? And what do you think about the heat sink and fan on that CPU, should I get a better fan and what would you recomend? Thank you

I'm using the stock cooler, and yes, it does like to let you know its there. I suppose you can get a bigger fan which will be much quiter. However I think you need to be using the Stock cooler to get the 3 year guarantee. Not that they would probably know.

On some motherboards, when you just turned it on, the fans will run 100%. Then they will adjust to a speed regarding cpu temp once it has completed the bios post ect. Although if you want a quieter system you will need an aftermarket cooler or you can try to salp a quieter fan on. If you do use an aftermarket cooler you will void the 3-year warranty, but as The Villlage Idiot said, not that they would probably know.

I've installed my system and everything is working fine but CPU fan. It is very, very loud. My five fans in P190 case you can bearly hear even on high speed and that thing is like jet is taking off. So what is good, quite aftermarket fan for CPU.

Well, you bought a very high performance "Extreme" processor - you have to expect high heat output. It's not easy cooling something like that *and* keeping it quiet.
