reset external drive?

First time for everything... I was just copying some files over to an external hard drive and some how managed to pull the USB cord out. After waiting a few moments I plugged it back in, but now Win XP doesn't auto recognize the drive

Is there any way to reset this without having to reboot??

TIA

TR

Never mind... It took unplugging the FreeAgent to getter to work. I guess it has built in protect to prevent damage. And yes, chkdsk showed no errors
