I just recently purchased ZEROtherm (/ CF900 / Socket 775 / Copper Base / Heatpipes / CPU Cooler) to deal with my Intel Pentium Extreme edition temperature problems. With the original Heat sink from intel, my processor was operating at temperatures between 65 C and 75 C while idle in BIOS, and Idle in windows; I know these temps are above normal, but i lived with them for awhile. I have an Asus motherboard, so luckily AI booster allowed the monitoring of Fan rpm and Temperature; Where my Intel heatsink fan was operating around 900 plus Rpm's. With the new Zerotherm Ability at 2300 Rpm's (performance mode), I figure my issue was solved. After instalation the computer fails to load Windows, Fiddling with BIOs on the second boot up reveals that my CPU temp is fluxuatiing between 95 C and 105 C and soon overheating causing shutdown. Soon I managed to work with BIOS and reduced the Temp to around 80 C, Still incredibly high, But able to load windows without shutdown. I contacted the manufacturer and received email directions on how to Clut off the internal temperature wire on the fan which regulates Fan speed, and Directions on how to Change BIOS in order to allow the processor to control fan speed. This was a quick fix however, the processor temperature dipped to around 65 C, while the fan speed was around 2300 Rpm's. However as of Now the Temperature has shot back up to 90 C to 105 C in BIOS, and 90 C to 95 C in windows while the heatsink is Running at 2300 Rpm's. I have no clue What my next step is, I believe I have maxed out all my options in BIOS.

To me it sounds as if the heatsink isn't installed properly and not making full contact with the CPU heatspreader...or you're using way too much thermal compound.

Hmm. Make sure you don't have too much TIM on the CPU. Too much Thermal Compound can be worse than too little! Also, check the surface of that Heatsink, ZEROtherm isn't the best quality of Heat sinks, so much sure the base is flat, and doesn't look curved or pitted.
