Laptop Screen
I recently broke the screen on my three month old Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop. I have ordered a new one to be delivered to my home as it was cheaper and faster than if I sent the computer to them for repair. My question is how difficult is it to replace the LCD screen? I have never taken a laptop apart and have no idea what to expect. But I hate to spend a couple of hundred dollars to have the Dell Service Rep install it.Anyone here have any experience with these things?
Thanks, Tuf |

There's not much to it. Go to www.support.dell.com and download the service manual for your I8000. You will need a SMALL phillips (jewelers screwdriver kit works good) and some type of small pick to dig out the little rubber caps that cover the screws. I use a jewelers flatblade out of my set or a SMALL tv tuner pot tool.

Thanks for your reply, I didn't think it could be too difficult. I found the manual on Dell's site, looks pretty easy to me. Thanks again for your help.
