IDE HDD Auto Detection Problem

When I get to my IDE HDD Auto Detection and I start it, it frezes on the secondary master part. Any help is appreciated.

Probably because your master/slave settings are wrong. You might have the secondary drive(s) both jumpered to master if there are two, or vice versa. Check your jumpers, one master and one slave on each channel.

Its not that, could it be my BIOS causing the problem and if it is How do I fix it?

I'm installing a 40GB but the original is a 10GB

Is your bios capable of seeing a 40 gig drive? What motherboard do you have? You might need a bios update, a controller card, or EZ-Bios. Find the "cylinder limitation" jumper on the hard drive and use it - if it's now detected as a 8 or 32 gig drive you have found the issue and need to do one of the 3 things I mentioned.
