disk boot error insert system disk

hi

Friend unplugged his machine moved it to a new location and now has this error problem. the hdd is detected i the bios, boot order is set to hdd first, no floppy or usb to interrupt the boot order. any ideas why, i suggested inserting the winxp cd, set the order to cd first but a wierd occurance. any suggestions for retrieving data if this does not work.

Try replacing the data cable to the hard drive.

It generally means that there is no OS installed. Its a possibility that the data on the hard drive is corrupt. Did he by any chance knock hte computer anywhere or something like that?
I had the same problem once and re-installing the OS fixed the problem.

I think you should check the data cable of Hard Disk. It is a HD related error and try reconnecting it.
